Class Notes

On this page, we'll share important information about our class and what we're working on in our classroom.

Online Project

Our class will be participating in the Global Sun/Temperature Project.  We will join schools from around the world as we try to figure out how proximity to the equator affects average daily temperature and hours of sunlight.

By participating in this project, we will measure the temperature, record the number of minutes of sunlight per day over a predetermined week, and determine our global coordinates in Marysville. We will post this information to the project web site and compare and contrast the results with classes from all over the world. Through these interactions, we will develop relationships beyond science and math by comparing cultures through E-mail posted in the site's Discussion Area.

There's a Moon Out Tonight...

Actually, there's a moon out every day and night, but it's not always visible!  In our class, we are currently studying the lunar (that means moon!) phases.  As part of our study, we're examining the Virtual Reality Moon web site which allows us to see the moon even when the clouds hide it from our sight.

  • Did you know you can predict what the moon will be like in a month and see if you are right?

  • Do you want to know about the moon on the day you were born?

Check out Virtual Reality Moon Phase Pictures to find out the lunar phase you were born under and more!

Planetary Explorations

Student journalists will be out in the virtual world exploring the planets during October and November.  Each journalist will be creating  five to ten page magazines about the solar system.  We will begin our research by blasting off in our spacecraft to explore the virtual information found at the Planetary Web Quest

Then we will zoom to other worlds to finish our research.  The other virtual worlds journalist may choose to explore will include some of the following sites:

The journalists deadline is November 30, 2000.  We are planning a smooth trip as we travel into the far reaches of the virtual world.
